#CSCCAN1 - Friday Evening begins with some exercises & beer tasting! #Oval #TwoCrows

Friday evening, we headed to Oval Center for some free outdoor sports and exercise after a long day at work, you get to have the skating gear,  cycles and tricycles (for people like me!) to still have some fun and sunshine.  Val and Danish ventured into skating & I enjoyed my comfy tricycle rides!

AMENITIES: Washrooms, Benches, Park, BeaverTails Pastries

FEES: Free

EQUIPMENT RENTAL: Helmets and skate rentals available free of charge

LOCATION: Halifax North Common at the corner of North Park Street and Cogswell Street.

Head down to the Halifax Commons for some fun summer Skating at the Emera Oval.  Inline skates and 4-wheels are welcome to whizz around the concrete track, which, to share a bit of trivia, has a surface that is 3 times the size of an NHL hockey rink!

Don’t have your own skates? No sweat!  Skates, inline skates, bikes, scooters and plasma cars are available to borrow…for FREE, as long as you have a government issued ID, such as a driver’s license or passport. (There is a rumour the skates are from the old Sackville Wheelies!)   Same as in the winter, Halifax skaters need to stay safe. In summer, ALL users of the Emera Oval must wear a helmet. Helmets and protective gear are available to borrow at the site. Skating is 7 days a week.

The Emera Oval is a must do for all Halgonians!

And the weekend begins with a beer when you have breweries all around and making you wear the curiosity hats up and head for a sip or two!   And having one just next door to your home for 4 weeks is all the more a reason why you try to know the process of a different industry and appreciate the efforts that go behind your one pint of beer!  I never knew that beer can be 20+ types and tastes!   @TowCrows Halifax, Nova Scotia

#CSCCAN1 - Early Childhood Development and Education, Dept of Education Nova Scotia - Celebrating team birthdays and visit to a local school on our work

Thanks to the Department of Education for facilitating our visit to Lock View High School, to meet the actual end users of our project-  Students.   We felt back at school visiting the Math Pot of the school and interacting with teachers and students.   I am sure there is lot of work ahead of us and we hope our experience and time here will help achieve the project goals and ensure we deliver the outcomes that matter.

We also were taken by surprise when our client, Department of Education, Nova Scotia arranged for surprise celebrations with cake cutting to celebrate birthdays of Ana and Danish  and meet and greet with Deputy Education Minister and staff of the Department..

The project ahead of us is very impactful to the Nova Scotia Community and we understand the depth of the goals that would matter to change the progress of education and enriching opportunities that the Math Homework Hub provides to the high school students of Nova Scotia and hope our findings and consulting work will help them achieve their both short term and long term goals

In the evening, we had our first week CSC Checkpoint Review call with IBM CSC, DOT and the CSCCAN1 team,    and can't imagine that we are already heading towards completing our Week1 in Halifax on this CSC Journey!

#CSCCAN1 - Celebrating the local culture and cuisine & special CSCCAN1 Birthdays @McKelvies Halifax Downtown

Over 30 years ago McKelvie’s opened their doors on Lower Water Street in Halifax. Originally built in 1906 to house the horse-drawn fire fighting equipment of the Halifax Fire Department, this historic space offers a perfect waterfront view. Now over one hundred years old, its doors are open to all those looking for a sublime dining experience.

We celebrated the pre-birthday dinner of my amazing colleagues on CSCCAN1 Ana Paula and Danish,  part of my sub-team and VUDA Team (Val, Uma, Danish & Ana) working for the Department of Education,  Early Childhood Development and Education,  Nova Scotia

Had some amazing sea food and celebrating the Atlantic coastline specialties,  I enjoyed my seafood sampler and some sparkling wine :-)
