Donation of 700 Sarees + to Positive Welfare Society in Tiruvallur for HIV Positive Destitute Women and Children

What started with a Facebook post #HelpNeeded went viral in its true sense. Help came in from all quarters. Known and unknown sources. We exceeded our expectation. We were able to finally donate 700 Sarees both new and old and one noble friend contributed 150 kgs of sattu mavvu (Nutrition supplements) , ...which is a continuous request. What Government machinery should do, few selfless individuals are doing in Tiruvallur There is lot more work to do. Creating Awareness stop spreading of AIDS. Helping and counseling those who are already suffering. Making children motivated to keep studying and aiming .

I am happy to make my mom and mom-in-law join us today It was a team effort ...and grassroots service. WE smiled, tears dwelled in our eyes, we felt thankful for what we have, we also felt thankful to what we don't have, be it the disease, evil thoughts or hatred.....
A Prayer #HelpNeeded: 150 Children need month on month nutrition supplements and any one willing to contribute, please reach out to me, Sandhya, or Thialk. We will be grateful to your contribution to these innocent kids who need some energy drink along with the medicines given by the government.
The excess of 150 sarees will be distributed to 4 old ages home in the city in the coming weeks. So if you missed the opportunity to contribute, and would want to do it still, please reach out to us.

Our Visit to Positive Friends Welfare Association Tiruvallur....

Positive Welfare Association of Tiruvallur provides rehabilitation support by distributing medicines for a month on every 4th Saturday to close to 200 + children between 1 year to 18 years and 700 adults most of them women effected by HIV. They are provided medicines, counseling to deal with the emotional imbalances, educational support to children, employment support to adults who are shunned by the society. Many of them work in village brick klins, cement industries and as local labourers. They have lost jobs as farmers could no more continue farming in their lands and have taken other odd jobs. The positive side of this trauma story is that children are continuing their studies. 53 children have taken up their Board exams this year. The highest score of this rehab centre last year is 475/500 in 10th and 1134/1200 in 12th exams. The only thing that binds them together is the hope to see the next dawn. We as a society should create awareness, support system and put our ever step forward to eradicate this deadly disease from India. Rotary club of Tiruvallur is doing an amazing job here. Hope of Home is providing food every 4th saturday to all who come to collect their medicines. This time, Sandhya Subramanian and I represented our Inner wheel club of Madras south with amazing support from my husband Raghunath AnandaBabu and brother S Thilak Raj from Sevai Karangal Inspite of the heat waves, stress of work, going ahead was not easy but not a discomfort even for a minute. We distributed 108 sarees to the ladies who really are in dire need of clothing.

In a remote mountain village

Megma, a small school

With little around 20 students

3 humble classrooms on top of the hill

And children love education with will

A retired teacher drives down every day

Making teaching a celebration by ray

Shaky benches and broken black boards

Did not deter the smile on the faces

Weak infrastructure and cracked walls

Do not chase away children’s dreams

Teacher continues with a passion

Education shines here free of cost

The dream to keep the school alive

And bring education to every home

Of this tiny hamlet on the mountain village

The hunger for education is high and strong

A dream to teach all through the future

Making the lives of children shine with care

There can be no end to this dream to live

All they need is support to continue

And make the children grow to shine

A Visit to Vivekanandar Illam- An Educational / Moral Trip for Young Children- Initiative by Sevai Karangal

Every time, we go for a drive on the Marina beach, we get to notice a peach colored building with closed windows.. Though now it is known widely as Vivekanandar Illam,  with a status of Swami Vivekananda , not many are aware what is in store inside for a common man,..the depth of heritage preserved diligently for the future to understand our  civilization, emergence of our values, and moral stones laid by Swami Vivekananda and how he influenced the world all over with his simple words of wisdom, that strongly conveyed a message of Universal Brotherhood and Secularism through acceptance of all religions as a path towards the Supreme God. 

Thanks to Sevai Karangal for the efforts initiated to take underprivileged children week after week to this place of knowledge, explaining them the exhibits,  interpreting the painting in a simple understandable language to young minds and encouraging them to write in the visitors book on the takeaways and also presenting them books and dictionaries as mementos.    Picture time and fun in the beach makes children feel edutained on every trip.

1.  Swami Vivekananda stayed here for 9 days during 1897- 6 Feb-14 Feb 1897
2.  Museum depicts exhibition on Indian Culture and Swami's life

Gone are those day when we had moral science/value as our subjects in the schools where we learn to be humane.

Now a day’s children are asked to be an engineer, Doctor, teacher etc to earn money and live a happy life. None is guiding them to be a humane which is required for a happy livelihood.

Everyone is keen about education that they fail to understand the need of good guidance and positive thoughts to shape up the personality of children.

Our conventional education focuses on metrics alone. So it is right time that we teach moral values to the children

To reclaim these values we at Sevai Karangal have planned a series of activities.

To start with we are taking the kids from homes to Vivekanandar Illam, Where the kids will have an opportunity to enjoy “Experience Vivekananda” Project, an initiative to showcase Swami Vivekananda’s personality and message through state-of-the-art multimedia galleries and utilizing various types of exhibits, short inspirational videos, 3D animated movie clips and a Holographic presentation and also the history, architect and cultural values of yesteryear's.

Agenda:
Kids will be taken from home by maxi cabs and assemble at the Illam. Spend time watching the screening and exhibits. Once it is over take them to marina beach and spend some time. Move to their respective homes.
