Friday evening, we headed to Oval Center for some free outdoor sports and exercise after a long day at work, you get to have the skating gear, cycles and tricycles (for people like me!) to still have some fun and sunshine. Val and Danish ventured into skating & I enjoyed my comfy tricycle rides!
AMENITIES: Washrooms, Benches, Park, BeaverTails Pastries
FEES: Free
EQUIPMENT RENTAL: Helmets and skate rentals available free of charge
LOCATION: Halifax North Common at the corner of North Park Street and Cogswell Street.
Head down to the Halifax Commons for some fun summer Skating at the Emera Oval. Inline skates and 4-wheels are welcome to whizz around the concrete track, which, to share a bit of trivia, has a surface that is 3 times the size of an NHL hockey rink!
Don’t have your own skates? No sweat! Skates, inline skates, bikes, scooters and plasma cars are available to borrow…for FREE, as long as you have a government issued ID, such as a driver’s license or passport. (There is a rumour the skates are from the old Sackville Wheelies!) Same as in the winter, Halifax skaters need to stay safe. In summer, ALL users of the Emera Oval must wear a helmet. Helmets and protective gear are available to borrow at the site. Skating is 7 days a week.
The Emera Oval is a must do for all Halgonians!
And the weekend begins with a beer when you have breweries all around and making you wear the curiosity hats up and head for a sip or two! And having one just next door to your home for 4 weeks is all the more a reason why you try to know the process of a different industry and appreciate the efforts that go behind your one pint of beer! I never knew that beer can be 20+ types and tastes! @TowCrows Halifax, Nova Scotia
