What is Success!

Date: 30 April 2014
NaPoWriMo 2014- Day 30
Last Poem in the series of April 2014- Writing adventure of every day - One new Poem

What is Success!

As a child
I wanted to be an adult
As an adult
I want to be a professional
As a professional
I want to be successful
As I am successful
I want more of it
Is this a new disease?
Every time I fall
I raise again
for I know next time
success will be mine
Every time I die
I raise again
for I feel next time
Life will be mine
When I had a penny
I aimed for a dollar
When I had  a dollar
I aimed for more money
When I had the riches
I missed the peace
When I found my peace
I missed gaggle of geese
When I found people
I missed the true love
When I found true love
I missed my life
For my life is lost
in the quest to find
something and everything
all the time
Success is not this journey
but being contended
and baseline your life
to make it happy and eternity
of its own
with the taste of success
in control of its cause
or else even the sugar pill
will become sooner sour!

The Unexplored

Date: 29 April 2014
NaPoWriMo 2014- Day 29

The Unexplored

Touched did I
Many a thing!
Felt did I
Many a feeling!
Lost did I
Many people to say!
Found did I
Many friends to share!
Yet,
I felt the vacuum
The solid hole
A zero
State of Mind
That Craves
for Unexplored
I wish I could Run
in the path
that was untouched
I wish I could cry
in darkness
that went unnoticed
I wish I could smile
in silence
that made me happy
Truly
Gracefully
Passionately
falling for unexplored
There makes a sense
of Pride
of being true to self
of guide
to one's own thoughts
of life
that can sacrifice
of death
that can be inevitable
Yet,
It makes me feel
there is more to explore
quest to adore
Just the Unexplored!

Sometimes, this is all just you need!

A Solider's Home Coming!

A Soldier's Home Coming!
Date:  28 April 2014

Few sets of eyes waited for him to come
An old and young woman waited for him to hug
Visibility pretending brave aged father, stood firm
A innocent young child kept playing around immune
The sounds of the vehicle disturbed the silence
It indicated the arrival of the brave young soldier
He did not run into their arms to give a big bear hug
or lift his child in passion to make her feel all of him
He did not walk with the same courage to bow his parents feet
or did not smile to his friends who waited to meet
The strong foot steps of his brave march was not heard
The sudden smell of incense took over the place
A silent arrival of a slain solider for the nation realized
He came home, yes, for the one last time
for his parents and young wife to mourn on him
His relatives and friends, stood in calmness grief
Colleagues who saw him fight for the Nation stood
in a sheer pride and unexpressed sadness and grief

He came home, Yes, for the one last time
draped in the Tri color, solemnly lifted
wrapped in a casket that had a role to play
Visibility a small hole for people to peep in and see
his wounded body bruised by the enemy's bullets
withered face with the strains of blood and pride
The day he took the owes in the Indian Army
the family and friends do know that this is coming
Yet, not so soon, not so without an aimless war
guarding our borders day and night fighting known enemy
There is no declared war, or a unsurpassed orders
yet, the borders take away lives of our unsung heroes
letting young women grieve for the gone husbands
and aged parents unable to speak or cry on their son's demise
leaving behind children who understand nothing including his death

Where is my Nation heading to, without having amicable neighbors
how many more soldiers, are we going to bid adieu?
recognized by none, not appreciated by the Nation
for which they have silently laid down their lives?
Arise, Awake and let the name of our solider's shine!
Let their last home coming be not their only dream!
They stand and rise for our National safety and Pride!
They fight, march ahead to protect us tight
In a valiant death, they feel a sense of pride and achievement
after all, their heart, mind, body and soul is only for Nation
soared with Patriotism, and courage to do the best

*************
As Major Mukund Varadarajan's mortal remains are consigned to flames today, leaving behind an unimaginable impact on his family and friends, his death also makes us remain at pain.  We salute you, our brave soldier, on your final home coming!   You laid your precious young life for our Nation, and only wish you are never forgotten!

Tribute of a bereaving wife of a deceased soldier - Major Mukund Varadarajan

This poem is written by Indu Rebecca Varghese- wife of Major Mukund Varadarajan who was killed on 25th April 02014.  A heart touching tribute....with respect to Rebecca and sharing her grief as a fellow Indian....

There lived a man who loved me with all his heart...
There lived a man who fathered my child....
There lived a man who believed in integrity....
There lived a man who loved his profession....
There lived a man who never feigned to be a hero....
There lived a man who was my soul....
There lived a man with a heart full of generosity...
There lived a man who revealed all to me....
There lived a man who loved me with his life.....

But .....now I wait.....
for he is with god..
I know this for sure..
One day I will meet him...
I know this for sure...
And he will give me that warm strong hug of his
I know this for sure...
And I will not complain that I can't breath
I know this for sure
You can hug me..hug me all you want....

26 April 2014- CHENNAI: "He was crazy about being in the Army and fighting from when he was 3. I have lost my son but I am proud he lay down his life for the country," said a composed R Varadarajan, father of Major Mukund Vardarajan who died fighting militants in Shopian district of South Kashmir on Friday.

According to news reports, Mukund was injured in an encounter in the Karew area of Shopian and died on way to an Army Hospital. Three terrorists were killed in the operation. Mukund, whose parent regiment is 22 Rajputana Regiment, was posted to 44 Rashtriya Rifles, a year ago.

Talking to TOI at his modest flat in Professor Colony at Selaiyur near Tambaram, Varadarajan, a retired bank officer, said Mukund had called them on Saturday last, his birthday. "After we wished him, he told us he was busy with election-related work and that he would call again later," said his mother Geetha, fighting back tears.

Mukund's wife Indhu Rebecca Verghese and their three-year-old daughter Arsheya are coming to Chennai from Bangalore. Mukund, studied at Sri Sankara Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Sec. School in Tambaram, and did a master's in journalism at Madras Christian College before graduating from the Officers Training Academy, said Varadarajan. His sister Nithya said, "He was the youngest brother and my sister Swetha and I were always protective about him."

Mukund's Facebook page received numerous tributes. Autorickshaw drivers in Selaiyur and surrounding areas said they would stay off the roads on Sunday as a market of respect for their 'hero'. Kumar, a policeman attached to the Selaiyur station, said, "My friends and I printed posters paying homage to him.''

Aaradhana- A Prayer to Ramana Maharishi - A Tribute

A Tribute and Prayer to Sri Ramana Maharishi
Date: 27 April 2014

Awakened with an unending spiritual power
Direct path of self-enquiry and understanding
At the foothills of the Holy Arunachala Hills
Started an era of spiritual heart of the world

The real quest for truth and zeal to live
there is nothing to rule others or just themselves
greatest power is at the command of the man
penetrated to the utmost death of one's inner self

Mind is nothing but a bundle of thoughts
the thought of 'Who am I' subsidies this
As he said, I cannot go away, where can I?
When my thought and soul is here in the hills?

64 years after the great saint of south attained
his physical exit from this free thoughts world
We still remember his sayings and thoughts
for they guide us towards good respected deeds

***********************************************************************************
In the vision of death, though all the senses were benumbed, the aham sphurana (Self-awareness) was clearly evident, and so I realised that it was that awareness that we call "I", and not the body. This Self-awareness never decays. It is unrelated to anything. It is Self-luminous. Even if this body is burnt, it will not be affected. Hence, I realised on that very day so clearly that that was "I"

The real feet of Bhagavan exist only in the heart of the devotee. To hold onto these feet incessantly is true happiness. You will be disappointed if you hold onto my physical feet because one day this physical body will disappear. The greatest worship is worshipping the Guru's feet that are within oneself

Today 27. 04. 2014 happens to be Ramana Maharshi's Aradhana Day. On this day, so many years ago, thousands of people all the way up to Mumbai saw a brilliant star with a luminescent tail paint the night sky, right at the moment he attained Maha Nirvana. Take a moment to prostrate before the greatest enlightened soul to have walked the Earth. It's really such a blessing!

The French photographer Cartier-Bresson was visiting Ramana's ashram as Ramana neared death. He noted the following astronomical event which appeared in the night sky over the sacred mountain Arunachala as Ramana died:

I saw a shooting star with a luminous tail unlike any I had ever seen before moving slowly across the sky and reaching the top of Arunachala, the mountain, disappearing behind it. We immediately looked at our watches. It was 8:47. We raced to the ashram only to find that the master had passed in to Mahanirvana at that exact minute. Nor was this experience only documented by a select few … All the English and Tamil papers which arrived this morning from Madras referred to the meteor which had been seen in the sky over the entire state of Madras at 8:47 on the night of April 14 by a large number of people in different places. These eyewitnesses had been struck by its peculiar look and behavior

Hunger for Education - Writing the remaining half story! @Megma Village

 Date: 25 April 2014
NaPoWriMo 2014

Hunger for Education

In a remote mountain village
Megma, a small school
With little around 20 students
3 humble classrooms on top of the hill
And children love education with will
A retired teacher drives down every day
Making teaching a celebration by ray
Shaky benches and broken black boards
Did not deter the smile on the faces
Weak infrastructure and cracked walls
Do not chase away children’s dreams
Teacher continues with a passion
Education shines here free of cost
The dream to keep the school alive
And bring education to every home
Of this tiny hamlet on the mountain village
The hunger for education is high and strong
A dream to teach all through the future
Making the lives of children shine with care
There can be no end to this dream to live
All they need is support to continue
And make the children grow to shine
Becoming Nation’s pride and hopes

Mother Earth

Date: 22nd April, 2014; NaPoWriMo

Mother earth...
lap of all warmth
green with trees
blue with water
air filled with life
soil filled with care
starts shining bright
moon looking like a bride
sun shining above
mountains filled with faith
birds flying here and there
animals roaming everywhere
trees shaking all around
small beings as they surround
fishes swimming in the sea
turtles crawling on the shore
children playing with the shells
man is busy making earth
in the name of civilized world
taking towards destruction
with hap hazard constructions
science that flies mars
ignoring our own mother earth
cutting down trees
digging sands so deep
erosion of soil
fears of global warming
arctic that starts melting
earthquakes that are threatening
rains that stop coming
fields no longer growing
where is the time?
or the cause for celebrating earth day?
as the earth is marching towards
its own dooms day!

Easter - Celebrating Jesus Christ and true meaning of life

Easter - A festival of life and resurrection

Day-20- NaPoWriMo 2014
Date: 20th April 2014

Oh Lord, the day you rose from death
to show us life beyond the body 's rest
Resurrected from the pains of humanness
and the bondage's of body and soul

Mary Magdalene, Oh Lord, Mourning your death
Supporting your final moments on earth
Standing besides the crucified Cross
with tears along with John, the beloved

As Gospels Say, she was the one to see you raise
When the Angel whispered to her the holy fact
Eostara- the celebration of goodness of the spring
Equinox and the goodness of rebirth and glory

Feast that marked the rebirth of the mother Earth
Celebrated the divine resurrection and rebirth
Easter Eggs and the Easter Bunny
Carried from feat of Eostara to celebrate fertility

Pagan joy in the rising sun of lovely Spring
symbolizing the glory of the Rising Son of God
Decoration of eggs, and hunts that get organized
show that we search for life and pleasure to find

Sharing candy and spreading real love and joy
with chocolate bunnies, billion eggs and million peeps
along with millions of colorful jelly beans
Making all of us feel wanted and make life to enjoy

Its the day that makes you feel happy and alive
the joy of sharing, caring and loving life
Oh Thy Lord, we pray to you in humbleness
bless us, our dear Lord, for us to stay in peace

Give us, Thy Lord, your graceful wisdom
and we say in thanks to you, Amen, in your Kingdom
Happy Easter!
May God bless all of us with his blessings!

Village Spread - The beauty of greenary, cattle, fields, innocent faces and lot more!

Day 19-  NaPoWriMo
19th April 2014

Village Spread

Driving across the green bed
of fresh air and a truly village spread
it looked like a painting
in God's own hands in making

Ladies giggling as they draw water from wells,
Having double layered pots on the heads
walking with the beauty of saree clad smiles
and ringing of their goongur bells

Children happily running chasing tyre's
with the sticks picked from trees
Few are playing with marbles
trying to impress each other in street games

Girls are playing the Seven Circles
Long forgotten games in metros
Few teens are giving flirting looks
hiding behind the large brown trees

The Season of mangoes just unfolds
and kids and adults jump together
to pluck the fresh fruits from the trees
and ladies trying to fill up the pickle pots

The smell of the fresh fields of Jasmin
makes you forget the best world's perfume
The sight of parrots eating away ripened guavas
makes you climb trees to pluck some yourself

The white fresh milk from the cattle
the smell of the manure mixed in fields
Rising sun above the green lush mountains
the sounds of the fishing in the nearby lakes

A perfect place for a picturesque
Men sitting under the trees making their own laws
Women covering the heads in shyness
Kids jumping in joy with no stress

You feel that its the perfect world
A beautiful loving Village Spread
Sometimes, its just so refreshing to drive back
to your roots of calmness and life

How much ever you spend on a exotic vacation
nothing comes like a run in the green fields
looking at the most innocent human faces
smiling back at you with no fake smiles

The peace of sitting under a large tree
and eating your home cooked food
with your grand mother feeding your full
what else can you ask in life to live

The night stars and full moon light
makes your life in a village more bright
The tranquility and peace it brings
makes our spirits goes in bang

No buffet in the world
can makes you feel so full
than this visual, vocal and natural retreat
with our beautiful village treat

********************************************************
God Bless our Villages, India Still lives in our  Rural Areas
There is a sense of calmness and equally a fear of loss
It is time for us to protect the lands
And the let fresh air of our villages live for long!

In Memory of a friend

18 April 2014
In Memory of my friend

Srujana..Your smile is now eternal!
 Your smile spread far
The journey taken afar
We enjoyed your dances
Embraced your lovely days
We grew together in one lawn
always looking fresh upon
Nothing but strong will
A dream that you always chased
We were  happy you actually achieved
The two letters called Dr. in front of your name
How much we rejoiced to know your fame
The happiness of seeing your lovely children
a very happy family that you lovingly shared
As friends when we got back in touch
after several years of running in our paths
The joy knew no bounds to measure
And those memories are a treasure
The happiness did not last long
When the call of God for you came along
The journey of night that you took
without realizing what is in hook
Sad came the news with a bang on us
Tears shed long not able to digest
We grieved with your family and friends
Thought times only should as usual heal
However, your smile fail to disappear
and wish one day, in surprise you would appear
again, to wish us, to meet us ,to love us
to hug your children and sleep with your parents
Only wished it never actually happened
years will surely move on, but painfully without you
We miss you dear friend.....
Just sad, that you are gone too soon!

****************************************************************************
Remembering my friend, classmate and a wonderful dancer, Maganti (Chava) Srujana Chowdary
as she left us in a tragic car accident last year on this day.
Srujana,
May your soul rest in peace
Holding all good memories of you tight in our hearts for ever
Life is beautiful!

The Joy of Giving!

The Joy of Living
Is In the Joy of Giving
For Its mean truthful sharing
with love, with life and caring!

The Joy of Giving
gives your life a meaning
there is happiness in sharing
warmth in genuine caring

Share your knowledge
and the wisdom grows in length
Share your happiness
for it doubles when given in wholeness
Share your love
for there is nothing more to give

Pledge to donate your eyes
for it shows the world new vision
Pledge to donate your organs
for they give new life to someone

Prepare to share your food
that makes you stomach full
Prepare to share your books
for the make light of knowledge shine

Give a true caring hug
that makes others feel truly good
Give those you love a warm kiss
for that makes hearts jump in bliss

Give your time to someone you care
for that is the precious gift you can give
Give you space for plants and trees
for they give you oxygen to breathe

Give it for any cause you care
that makes the purpose solved
for every single drop
makes it to the oceans deep

We make our living by what earn
We make our life by what we give
Earn hard as much as you can
for a share of it goes back to those in need

Stop being jealous and greed
for the earth can bear what all we need
learn to call on those who need
and spend some time to feed

Giving is not just another act
of gentle real kindness
It is a spiritual experience
that makes your live in peace

Raise above the mediocre minds
awakening the joy of giving in kinds
Smile is the simplest gift
that truly returns with its light

There is nothing like a right time
it all needs a thought in your heart
to make it in the smallest way
of kindness and happy care

Give until it gives you  joy
then you know you are truly giving
Love yourself if you learn to give
for you are making yourself loved
Live life in simple happy ways
nothing but the joy of giving!
